A New Home

Japanese started migrating to the U.S. during the 1800’s. Most of the Japanese immigrants that came to settle in the U.S. were laborers. They settled mostly in Hawaii, but others kept moving until they reached California. The Japanese population was found throughout the Western Coast.
Throughout the years, the population of Japanese in America grew. Many laborers sent for their families to join them, while others were in arranged marriages and had their new brides come to the U.S. Americans started envying the Japanese because of their great success in farming and how quickly they were adapting. That jealousy caused them to create the “Gentlemen’s Agreement”, which prohibited any more Japanese laborers to immigrate to the U.S.
The Japanese have always been very talented and very dedicated in their work. It’s no surprise that others would come to envy their success. Every year the amount of Japanese decedent in America grows. They settle mostly in California or in other states along the Western Coast.
